Government of Goa permitted shops and establishments under the Goa Shops and Establishments Act, 1973, to engage women employees between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. This relaxation is subject to employers obtaining written consent from the women workers and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and welfare conditions. Specific safeguards include secure transportation for pick-up and drop at the employee’s residence and CCTV surveillance in areas where women are deployed. Employers are expected to ensure all protective measures are firmly in place before engaging women in night shifts.
