Dismissal justified for habitual absence: Chhattisgarh HC

Chhattisgarh High Court in M. Mohan Rao vs. Bhilai Steel Plant (WPL No. 5110/2011) upheld the dismissal of an employee who remained absent without sanctioned leave for 140 days. The Court observed that the employee had a prior record of unauthorised absences and had been previously penalised for similar misconduct. In light of this, the Court held that the punishment of dismissal was justified and proportionate.
