Jharkhand High Court, in Uma Ram vs. M/s Bharat Coking Coal Limited & Ors. [L.P.A. No. 81 of 2025], on August 22, 2025, held that correction of date of birth in service records cannot be claimed as a matter of right when sought after an inordinate delay and close to retirement, even if supported by genuine documents. The Court reiterated that belated claims undermine service certainty and cannot be entertained unless there is irrefutable proof of error or injustice.
