Acquittal in Criminal Case Does Not Confer Eligibility to hold employment

Rajasthan High Court, in Ashok Kumar &Anr. vs. Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited & Ors. [(1) S.B. CWP No. 9408/2011],on August 29, 2025,  upheld the termination of an employee for submitting forged educational qualification certificates, despite his acquittal in a related criminal case of forgery, fabrication, and cheating. The Court ruled that an acquittal based on the benefit of doubt does not confer eligibility to hold employment, reiterating that employers retain discretion to assess suitability.
