Delhi High Court in Karan Moolchandani vs. State of NCT of Delhi &Anr. [CRL.M.C. 5159/2025]on August 1, 2025, reiterated that an FIR involving allegations of sexual harassment may be quashed under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, if the matter has been amicably resolved between the parties, provided that broader considerations of justice and public interest are duly addressed. The case involved serious allegations under the Indian Penal Code, 1860, including verbal abuse, unwelcome physical contact, and stalking. However, the complainant later expressed no objection to the quashing of the FIR and confirmed that the dispute had been settled. While allowing the quashing, the Court imposed a condition requiring the employer to perform community service at a government hospital every Sunday for 6 months, underscoring that even in cases of private settlement, courts may impose conditions to ensure that justice is not perceived as compromised.
