TCS tops in women employment, women accounted for 35%

Tata Consultancy Services topped the list of Axis Bank’s Burgundy Private and Hurun India’s second edition of the top 10 women employers in the country, with over 2.1 lakh or 35% of its workforce is female.

There are also 40% female employees at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), 36% at Wipro, 28% at HCL Technologies, and 17% at Reliance Industries, following Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

As many as nine companies are listed in the top ten of the list that employs women in the country: Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Reliance Industries, Motherson Sumi Systems, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Page Industries.

It comes at a time when India’s IT industry is afflicted with record-high attrition rates. In the quarter ended June, the average attrition rate for the country’s top five IT firms more than doubled to 23%, on a 12-month trailing basis. These companies added 20% to their workforce in April–June, bringing the total number of employees to more than 1.5 million.

The estimated value of Page Industries is 55,511 crores, and about 74% of its employees are women. A company with 41% women is Motherson Sumi Systems.

The “2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500” has been released by Hurun India and Burgundy Private, the private banking division of Axis Bank.

“Women make up 16 per cent of the boards of the companies from the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500. As India’s economy grows and the India 500 becomes bigger, expect the percentage of women board directors to grow too. The 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 are some of the biggest employers of women in the country led by Tata Consultancy Services with about 2.1 lakh women employees,” Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and Chief Researcher, Hurun India, said.
