Now HDFC Bank employee dies in Lucknow office; colleagues allege work pressure

A female employee of HDFC Bank, identified as Sadaf Fatima,  died on Tuesday in the Lucknow office allegedly due to work pressure. According to media reports, her colleagues are citing work stress as the reason behind her untimely demise.  This unexpected death of employee in the office after suicide of EY  female CA has again focussed on the workplace stress and mental health of employees, which is ignored by organisations.

According to media reports,  Sadaf Fatima served as the Additional Deputy Vice-President at HDFC Bank’s Vibuti Khand branch in Gomtinagar. It was reported that Fatima collapsed unexpectedly from her chair while working in the office. Colleagues quickly rushed her to the hospital, but unfortunately, doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. Authorities have since sent her body for a post-mortem examination.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav expressing deep concern over the incident, described it as “extremely worrying.” He criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its “failed economic policies” at the central government level. Yadav stated that the BJP government shares equal responsibility for these tragic, sudden deaths, alongside the demoralizing statements made by its leaders that affect the public’s mental well-being. He added that the government should make active efforts to overcome this problem.

These incidents highlight the pressing need for organizations to tackle workplace stress and prioritize employee well-being. The tragic deaths of Sadaf Fatima and Anna Sebastian Perayil have ignited important conversations among leaders and advocates about the necessity of fostering healthier work environments and offering essential support to workers across India.
