Smriti Singh to move to Flipkart as CHRO
Flipkart has hired Smriti Singh as its chief of human resources officer (CHRO), industry sources said. Singh was previously the executive vice president HR for Sony Pictures Networks India. She is expected to join Flipkart as its CHRO in December. Singh's appointment comes after former COO Nitin Seth had to quit abruptly in May last year. After his exit, Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy took the additional charge of the HR division too.
Singh started her career in Xerox and went on to become HR leader for GE healthcare Asia Pacific.Later she went on to work for Genpact and NBC Universal. An email sent to Flipkart spokesperson on the appointment didn't elicit a response immediately.
Singh's appointment could come handy to arrest the exodus as it make an attempt to bring back stability in the company amid concerns around the fallout of a recent turbulence.
Krishnamurthy, who is serving his second innings in Flipkart, has virtually become the most powerful executive in the company calling the shots. Singh is expected to work closely with Krishnamurthy. Additionally, TOI reported on Friday saying Myntra could also see its total workforce cut by a significant number, sources said. Two Myntra executives told TOI about talks of a potential reduction in the workforce in the next couple of months. Sources added this number could be 100 going up to as high as 400-500.
