Managers need to learn to demonstrate compassion
Those that are willing to move forward from industrial-era command and control styles and instead create cultures of empowerment and contributions are more likely to succeed. There are several instances of flattening the hierarchy to bring more speed to problem solving and decision making.

Do you think that Business Organisations now look for certain new competencies for managers? If so, what is your perspective in this respect?

SB The disruptions we have been experiencing in the last decade have offered incredible opportunities to grow and learn, and the pandemic has been the biggest upheaval offering a live classroom to learn from.

Organisations need leaders who have the ability to reinvent, recast their perspectives and thinking, those who can be courageous yet humble to Listen to Employees and Customers, being adaptable and decisive in times of ambiguity and most of all have the ability to combine compassion alongwith the ability to continuously deliver results. Organisations are seeking Leadership Maturity and Adaptability, there is little patience with those who have lapsed back to old styles and thinking- refusing to change?!!

Ability to demonstrate contextual intelligence, Moral intelligence, emotional and social intelligence are all key capabilities in the new economy.
