Leaders need to be more visible and accessible
Organizations should try to do all they can to protect jobs and should be as transparent as possible in terms of what exactly the organization is trying to do and why. Leaders should make an extra effort make themselves visible and accessible to the employees. These would help in providing psychological safety to the employees.

During covid pandemic turmoil, most people have been through isolation, depression and anxiety, which are certainly going to reflect in their work attitude. How HR should address this challenge?

PK The first step is to acknowledge the reality of fear, stress and anxiety that the employees are experiencing! We, including the employees and people in HR, are all human beings first. So, expecting the employees to be completely focussed on their deliverables and to work with the same level of energy and enthusiasm as before is unrealistic. The next step is to help the employees to acknowledge the reality, of fear, stress and anxiety, without being ‘ashamed’ about it in any way. After that, HR should try to proactively address these fears to the extent possible. The key is to make support options available to the employees and to do sufficient communication on them and their benefits so that the employees can choose as per their need.
