Intuit India announces enhanced benefits for LGBTQ employees
In continuation of its commitment towards the PRIDE Network and the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) charter, Intuit India today announced Gender affirmation related support benefit effective from August 1, 2019. For those LGBTQ employees of Intuit India who would like to go through transition, the company will provide gender affirmation surgery reimbursement up to INR 500,000 as a one-time cost through its insurance vendor. This will be supplemented with hormone replacement therapy reimbursement up to INR 60,000 per year, which would also be part of the insurance coverage.

So, we are excited to make this announcement which makes us the only organization in the industry that provides a benefit of such a magnitude,” said Sanket Atal, Managing Director, Intuit India Development Centre.
Other key benefits in place for Intuit India employees from the LGBTQ community are:
- Healthcare Coverage - To ensure the health and well-being of all employees’ loved ones, Intuit offers group medical insurance coverage to all including same-sex partners of employees. Same-sex partners are also eligible for OPD, dental and vision reimbursement, up to INR 20,000 per year, and can receive annual health check-ups.
- Life Insurance Nomination: Group life insurance protects the loved ones of employees in the event of their death due to accidental, natural or unnatural causes. Intuit employees can nominate their same-sex partner too as a beneficiary.
- Gender Neutral Washrooms – Intuit has installed gender-neutral washrooms in our offices in Bangalore. Intuit India is among the few companies in the country providing gender-neutral washrooms at its offices.
- Safe Spaces – The company has partnered with InnerSight a leading counselling and wellness practice training centre to provide counselling services to its employees in India; who either identify themselves with the LGBT community or who need some counselling help because their loved ones are from LGBT community. In order to maintain privacy and confidentiality of the employees, the organization has designated certain rooms for its employees to have a conversation with the counsellor. These rooms have glass walls that are opaque so that privacy is not compromised.
