After Haryana, now it’s UP turn to  reserve jobs for locals in G.Noida

On 17th March 2021, the Uttar Pradesh government issued an order to implement 40 per cent reservation for local youths in private companies in Greater Noida. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority’s circular declared that there must be “more than or equal to 40 per cent employment to local employees” in the industries across the authority area.

This comes a day after Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said that the farmers protesting against the three controversial farm laws are planning to block the Noida-Delhi border over lack of employment opportunities for local youths from the Jat and Gurjar communities in Noida among other things.

The UP government’s decision has drawn sharp criticism from corporate multinational companies. Local legislators, however, supported and welcomed the move on social media.

While political circles have praised the Govt. initiative, Industries have raised eyebrows on such a move which may create more complexities in future.
