Delhi MCD employees to go on strike from jan.7 on pending salaries issue
NEW DELHI: Unhappy with the three municipal corporations in keeping their promise to resolve the issue of pending salaries and pensions by November-end, the Confederation of MCD Employees Union announced to go on an indefinite strike from January 7.
In a letter forwarded to the lieutenant governor, the union members have stated that the municipal workers had withdrawn their strike twice in the past three months after the mayor and commissioner assured for releasing of pending salaries, dues and pensions by November-end.
Prior to indefinite strike, the union has announced to hold a full day dharna at Civic Centre on December 24 and EDMC headquarter in Patparganj on January 4.
North corporation mayor Jai Prakash said, “We are going through a financial crisis. Still salaries to sanitation workers have been cleared till the month of September, DBC employees till October, nurses till September, teachers July and doctors till September. Soon one month salary to C and D category employees and one month pension will be issued.”
