FCI is exempted from contract labour Rules for 2 years

The Govt. has exempted 63 godowns, depots and railheads of the Food Corporation Of Indiathroughout the nation from provisions of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Central Rules,1971, for a period of two years from July 6, 2020, thus paving manner for simpler employment and regulation of employees inFCI according to a report published in The Economic Times.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 31 of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 (37 of 1970), the central government hereby exempts the godowns, depots and railheads of Food Corporation of India from the applicability of notifications of the government of India in the ministry of labour and employment in respect of employment of contract labour in different jobs further for a period of two years, with effect from July 6, 2020, the ministry of labour and employment stated in a gazette notification.

This would profit meals storage depots of FCI throughout Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Bihar, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
