Event Report - UDHYAMITA-2021 held at SVVV, Indore

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, Indore organized its annual event, Udhyamita-2021 on March 26, 2021 on online platform. Dr. Upinder Dhar, Honorable Vice Chancellor, SVVV, welcomed the Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri Nand Kishore Chaudhary, Founder of the world famous 'Jaipur Rugs' to the conference by presenting a virtual floral bouquet. Dr. T.K. Mandal, Coordinator, EDC informed the audience about the unique 'doorstep entrepreneurship' model of Jaipur Rugs. He also briefed the audience about 'PITCHUP', the idea pitching competition and the remaining schedule of the day.

Dr. Upinder Dhar, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, while delivering the welcome address said about the need for fast-pacing the youth of the country in innovating new ideas. He enlightened the audience by discussing about start-ups and entrepreneurship in detail and the difference between the two. He also complimented the EDC team for holding the event online during the pandemic.

Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri Nand Kishore Chaudhary, Founder, Jaipur Rugs, Jaipur inspired the gathering by narrating his entire journey of life. He motivated the audience by the story of how the internally acclaimed Jaipur Rugs was set up in the backdrop of social evils like racism, caste system, etc. Since Jaipur Rugs predominantly partners with womenfolk, Shri Chaudhary also mentioned about the hurdles faced for empowering and upliftment of women.

Dr. Namit Gupta, Co-Coordinator of Udhyamita-2021 proposed the words of thanks. Ms. Pamila Neema, Assistant Professor, SVISSHA, SVVV, Indore was the master of ceremony for the inauguration.

The second session of Udhyamita-2021 was 'PITCHUP', the idea pitching competition. 53 teams belonging to 23 institutes of 10 states of the country entered the competition. These teams were earlier screened by a panel of 3 experts to 19 teams on the basis of parameters such as newness of idea, practical feasibility, stage at which the idea is, convertibility of the idea into a product/service, funding possibilities, presentation, market survey, etc. These 19 teams took part in the final round of 'PITCHUP' spreading over 4 hours during Udhyamita-2021 on 26th March, 2021. A panel of 3 judges, who are entrepreneurs themselves, went through the proposals in detail and selected the winning idea.

Dr. Vinayak Vishwakarma, Assistant Professor, SVSM, Mr. Shashank Vishwakarma, Assistant Professor, SVITS, and Mr. Dinesh Patel, Assistant Professor, SVIIT, moderated the idea pitching competition.

The concluding session of Udhyamita-2021 was conducted by Dr. Shilpa Phadnis, Assistant Professor, SVISSHA who welcomed the Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri Virendra Goel, Chairman, Deepak Woollens Private Limited, Indore. Dr. Namit Gupta, Co-Coordinator of Udhyamita-2021 in his report of the event informed the Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor, other dignitaries and the audience regarding the proceedings of the day. Dr. Upinder Dhar, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of the University gave his closing address and desired that the activities of EDC are further strengthened. On this occasion, the winning idea of 'PICHUP', named as BLISCARE, which went to Shri Chinmaya Naik of GHRCE, Nagpur was announced. Shri Naik also gave a brief presentation of his idea meant to benefit visually challenged students. This received huge rounds of applause from the Chief Guest, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor and all others.

Chief Guest, Shri Virendra Goel in his speech motivated the audience by narrating the story of establishing Deepak Wollens and gave his mantra of success in entrepreneurial ventures. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. T.K. Mandal, Coordinator, EDC.
