Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority terminates the services of 49 employees

NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has terminated the services of 49 contractual workers after allegations of irregularity in their appointment process. They have been working in clerical roles at GNIDA after their appointment between 2021-22, said officials.

A complaint was sent to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in April 2022, alleging that the 49 employees were inducted into the GNIDA despite not meeting employment parameters. The complaint also alleged that the employees concerned are relatives or known to some officials who have worked at GNIDA in the past.

When CEO Ritu Maheshwari took over as the GNIDA CEO in October 2022, she formed a three-member committee headed by ACEO Prerna Sharma and other senior officials to investigate the matter. She directed the committee to ascertain the exact role of former employees in the employment process and the methods used to skip it.

The committee recently submitted a report, after which the authority decided to terminate the contractual workers’ services on Monday. At least 36 of the 49 were employed through two  consultancies in the NCR. The employees have been asked for clarifications, after which there will be further action against them.

The committee, in its investigation, found that the job application portal remained open at night to bypass recruitment rules. Officials said the role of the private agencies and the GNIDA employees are under further investigation. Once proven to be involved, their names will be made public. After the investigation is complete, the committee will frame the case details, after which there will be further action against those involved.

Prerna Sharma, ACEO, GNIDA, said, “The preliminary inquiry has found the HR department and the consulting agencies at fault. After further investigation, we will also fix the accountability of people involved in the irregularity. The contractual workers have been fired after a year. The CEO decided to terminate their services with no further extension.”
