The passing of Dr. Udai Pareek on March 21, 2010, has left an irreplaceable void in the field of Applied Behavioral Sciences and Organizational Development. His legacy at ISABS will continue to inspire and guide generations to come. He will always be remembered as a beacon of wisdom, compassion, and excellence.
Dr. Pareek was more than a distinguished professional-he was a visionary who transformed the landscape of Organizational Development and Applied Behavioural Sciences in India and across the globe. His deep commitment to advancing these fields redefined practices and inspired numerous professionals worldwide. With over 60 books to his name, he leaves behind an enduring legacy of knowledge and mentorship for future generations.
A pivotal force in the establishment of ISABS in 1972, Dr. Pareek played a crucial role in fostering a culture of experiential learning and human process work. His leadership and mentorship were instrumental in developing methodologies and tools that emphasized learning in the “here and now.” With his vast experience and expertise, he enriched the understanding of behavioral processes from diverse perspectives.
During the early 1990s, as an intern in my ISABS journey, I witnessed his remarkable ability to navigate institutional crises and in still confidence among members. His initiatives strengthened ISABS, expanded its reach into the corporate world, and positioned it as a leading institution in Applied Behavioural Sciences.
Dr. Pareek, despite his towering contributions, remained deeply humble and grounded. He treated everyone with respect and kindness, embodying values of simplicity, integrity, and service. His achievements reflected his unwavering belief in the power of humanity and his profound sense of responsibility toward society. Even till he breathed his last, he exemplified his values by donating his body for medical research.
I shall forever remain indebted to the late Dr. Udai Pareek, Sir for his invaluable mentorship and support in my journey of growth, and during my tenure as Regional Coordinator, ISABS Delhi Region.
His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us all.
