Many organizations have molded their ways according to their employees, but still there is a long way to go. The need to maintain a work-life balance and not forget one’s personal space has been given much more importance than earlier.

2020 has been the most unprecedented year faced by the world. Life came to a sudden still after COVID-19 hit globally. Nobody knew how to tackle a pandemic of such huge magnitude and people suffered because of the same. Around 7.35 million people were laid off from their jobs and more had to relocate to earn their daily bread and butter. Mental stress from meeting financial needs and battling symptoms has been a major fight worldwide. Add onto this the pressure of taking care of the elderly in the family and the uncertainty of normalcy, really affected the overall health of people.

Corporate sector had to make an immediate shift to remote working, which hindered many companies as it was a fairly new concept. The need to work from home arose quickly and became the need of the hour, as people realized the importance of having financial stability in these trying times. Many companies worked rapidly to bring some form of normalcy in the lives of their employees. Work from home and hybrid teams became a necessity.

The corporate sector tried to ease their employees into the new hybrid working conditions and helped them with their different needs. Since employees themselves had changed values of work culture and prioritized their health over work, the companies also needed to rethink the employee benefits package they were providing earlier, to better accommodate the needs. The interconnectedness of maintaining a work-life balance was stressed upon and employee incentives were revised.

Since the general public is more aware of the problems that they faced during the pandemic, the transition into pre- Covid life has been made easier by their workplace as well. Some must have benefits, which are non-negotiable to the employees, have been introduced, to make a smooth transition to remote working conditions.

Some large scale companies have introduced monetary incentives for their employees to set up their work station at home. This came after the realization that not everybody will be able to afford the same. The companies therefore provided, in some cases financial incentives, to buy a table or a chair, and some sent systems instead. This move was highly appreciated as the added requirement to use technology to work while battling Corona would have resulted in further deterioration of mental health.

Taking into account employees’ mental health, few corporations worked on giving an option to choose their own working hours. The flexible use of their time eventually yields better results as employees work in their most productive hours. A 4-day work week was also adopted by many institutions to decrease the workload of staff. This is one of the most sought-after must-haves as teams are generally working from different states and because of many reasons flexible hours are a must for better output.

Financial turmoil was one thing to which almost everybody could relate. Nobody was prepared for such a confused state of affairs. Taking care of any medical emergency first hand has become a must for the working sector. A lack of finance management could also be the reason for many people not being able to sort out their money matters. Many were left in debt because of the same. Investments done through the workplace should be encouraged and advised. Tips should be shared between employees to help them better manage their finances.

Above listed were some of the few things that have become important in the post-covid times. Many organizations have molded their ways according to their employees, but still there is a long way to go. The need to maintain a work-life balance and not forget one’s personal space has been given much more importance than earlier. Employers have also kept the same in mind and have given their employees ample time to adjust and work at their own pace. This has reduced mental pressure on many working individuals as they are not worrying about unnecessary and avoidable things anymore, rather they are using their time in an efficient and diligent manner. This has indeed resulted in better productivity rates.
