The Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 is an extremely important legislation which was promulgated during the early years of Indian democracy to given employees various benefits in case of sickness, maternity and employment injuries. In a country like India the importance of welfare legislations, especially in the field of labour laws cannot be over emphasized. This is proved by the high number of instances in which the Employees’ State Insurance Act is invoked and the number of cases delivered by the various courts in the country which are continuously interpreting the provisions of the Act in newer light and newer contexts.

It was due to this increase in the number of cases on the Employees’ State Insurance Act as well as the various interpretations given by these cases that the publishers felt the need to revise and update this book Commentaries on Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 with the latest case laws and amendments.
